Batman: Arkham Asylum exposes players to a unique, dark and atmospheric adventure that takes them to the depths of Arkham Asylum - Gotham's psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. .:: Temporary Grappling Fix ::.
( Thanks for X82 for helping out everyone for this fix! )

If you guys like me were experiencing problems grappling to certain key points, go into :\Batman Arkham Asylum\BmGame\Config and change the properties of the file DefaultGame.ini to NOT read only. Then edit it and find the line, DefaultGravityZ=-1000.0 Change it to DefaultGravityZ=1 (must remove the - )
Now load up the game and you find your floating. You will have to leap about to gain momentum but you will start to float and then you can guide it to the vent in question. Soon as you see the game save, quit, return the values back to normal and your done. Its a pain to keep doing it yes, but its the only way I found around it for the time being.

Also, Try this:(for Grapple fix)

If you get any grapple problem. Just keep restarting to checkpoint and it will eventually work. I keep restarting and it worked fine for me
